It's Seth's birthday, his EIGHTH birthday. It began as all my children's birthday's begin (regardless of age) with a call from Grannie and Pa:)
This morning my dad and Clara Ruth came by at 7:30 and picked Seth up for his birthday breakfast. It's a new and very much enjoyed tradition. Seth had his favorite Worleybird chocolate chip pancakes and great conversation!
He rode to FHU this morning with Scott. I had gone on for an early meeting and met Scott and Seth at Freed. Scott spoke in chapel and because it was Seth's birthday he was able to go with us. I was so very proud of Scott! He talked on family. Stuart read scripture and there are just no words sweet enough to tell you how it felt to see Scott and Stuart together on stage this morning! Doug sat with Seth and I on the front row. What a blessing to be there with my boys and share that time with them. It was definitely a wonderful day!!
We all went to eat lunch at Bells (the bestest burger place in West Tennessee). Scott went on to Mississippi leaving Seth and I to take our big boys back and make a side trip to the bookstore (my treat!).
It was a great evening. Stuart and Doug's flag football game was canceled due to rain and they came home for dinner. John and his girlfriend Rachel were here as well and Jacob, Sarah and Chelsea.....it is almost unusual to have so many "big" kids at the table. I actually ran out of food (no left overs for us). I have had a hard time adjusting to the lack of teenage boys in our meal planning!
What a great birthday. My funny of the day was Seth describing to everyone how he wanted "Happy Birthday" sang. You have to know at my house it is usually a screaming mess....the more loved you are the louder. Seth asked that it "start on easy, medium then go to hard and expert" I wasn't sure if he was wanting us to sing or play rock band:) Everyone accommodated him as he asked....it started very sweet and ended harshly....lol:) Just perfect.
