WOW
I can only WOW the placement we found (well, Scott found) for Sam. Nestled in the mountains on the Tennessee river it is a serious "back to nature" treatment facility. Specifically targeting adolescents who have not been successful in traditional treatment this program is incredible. We actually left hopeful. In the past, truly, we have left centers feeling that they are the equivalent to a babysitter. Success has not been in Sam past with treatment. This place was ...well...it was WOW. Now, we just need insurance to kick in and Sam's is on his way! The 15 hour round trip was well worth it!

Wonderful!!! Would you care to share the name of this center? I have never found anything that didn't feel like hand holding sympathy or babysitting for my son and this sure sounds hopeful!
ReplyDeleteThe Village, Louisville Tennessee:) After the initial intake program the boys live in cabins, cabins that have not electricity or running water(not AC and heated by a wood stove ...the boys have to cut all the wood). They work building and maintaining fences, green houses, and learning "team" building. It will be a hard stretch for Sam. The schoolhouse (fully accredited one room school)does have A/C and a ratio of about 1 teacher to 4 students. I cannot tell you how impressive this place is....perhaps an option for you?
